HACU announces speakers and unveils agenda for its 2013 International Conference

Embassy of Spain Ambassador D. Ramón Gil-Casares Satrústegui will be among the speakers at HACU’s 10th International Conference. The conference takes place Feb. 27 - March 1, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas.

Other speakers include David Bergeron, acting assistant secretary for postsecondary education of the U.S. Department of Education; José Joaquín Campos Arce, director general of the Center for Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education in Costa Rica; John D. Feeley, principal deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs; and Cathie Woteki, under secretary for USDA's Research, Education, and Economics mission area/chief scientist.

Presentations under the theme, “Creating Global-Minded Environments on our Campuses,” will include more than twenty workshops by more than forty presenters from colleges, universities and organizations across four countries.

Two plenary presentations, on “U.S. Support for International Collaboration” and on “Advancing Graduate Education in the Agricultural and Environmental Sciences,” will address issues for higher education institutions engaged in international partnerships and advancing agricultural science and training, respectively.

The conference will also include a free exhibitor’s fair in the Lone Star Foyer open to the public on Feb. 28 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and March 1 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
