HACU President meets with HUD Secretary to discuss opportunities to enhance Hispanic success

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) President and CEO Antonio R. Flores is in Washington, D.C., this week to discuss key HACU initiatives.

In a meeting with Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Julian Castro, and his staff on Dec. 9, Flores and HACU Chief Advocacy Officer, Luis Maldonado, discussed HUD’s role in creating opportunities that promote Hispanic success. The discussion focused on innovative ways to leverage HUD programs and resources with Hispanic-Serving Institutions and HACU’s membership.

A Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate collaboration between HUD and HACU, which focuses on the role that colleges and universities now play in many urban and regional economies, is planned for early 2015. The MOU would further enhance efforts in place within HUD’s Office of University Partnerships.
