"HSIs through the eyes of campus presidents" discussed at  NCAA Inclusion Forum

The Hispanic Association and Colleges and Universities President and CEO, Antonio R. Flores, was among the panelists that recently spoke on the topic “Hispanic-Serving Institutions: Through the Eyes of Campus Presidents,” at the NCAA Inclusion Forum in La Jolla, Calif.

The session moderated by Mark Emmert, NCAA President, included HACU-member presidents Sharon Herzberger of Whittier College and Stephen Jordan of Metropolitan State University of Denver.

This session discussed historical perspectives on HSIs, the unique experiences and challenges that Hispanic students face every day and best practices to serve their overall well-being. The session was part of the NCAA Inclusion Forum held on April 25 to offer insights on how to make campuses more inclusive to the growing minority population.

The NCAA Inclusion Forum brings together intercollegiate athletics leaders passionate about improving the educational and professional environment for student-athletes, coaches and staff. Sessions dealt with a broad range of topics related to policy, research and best practices for increasing access among racial and ethnic minorities, women, international student-athletes, LGBTQ and disabled students to college sport.
