HACU President keynote panelist at U.S. News STEM Solutions Conference, June 29 in San Diego

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) President and CEO Antonio R. Flores will be among the speakers at the U.S. News STEM Solutions Conference, June 29 – July 1, 2015, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, Calif. 

More than 50 leaders in STEM and diversity are confirmed to speak at this year’s conference, The conference theme, “Teach, Inspire, Hire: Discovering and Growing America’s Diverse Talent Pool,”  is a call to action, with a special emphasis on increasing the ranks of women, minorities, veterans, and other underserved and underrepresented populations in STEM careers. The keynote and breakout sessions will highlight solutions, best practices and model programs making an impact across the nation.

In addition to Flores, the opening keynote panel, “Making STEM Diversity a National Priority,” will include Wanda Austin, Ph.D., president and CEO of Aerospace Corporation; Michael L. Lomax, Ph.D., President and CEO of  the United Negro College Fund; Leland Melvin, NASA astronaut and host of Lifetime’s “Child Genius”; and Timothy P. White, Ph.D., chancellor, California State University System.

Forty breakout sessions will allow attendees to explore in-depth topics such as “Recruiting and Retaining Minorities in Your Workforce,” “Progress on the Gender Front in STEM,” “Improving Teacher Prep,” “Cultivating College Access and Completion,”  “Engaging Parents in Their Children’s STEM Educations,” and “Beefing Up Career and Technical Education.”
