The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has announced the scholarship recipients from member institutions. Often competing against hundreds of applicants, students are selected based on met criteria.
The fall 2015-16 recipients garnered scholarships from Travelers, J.C. Penny, Sodexo, NASCAR, Gilberto Salazar Escoboza, Videxport S.A. de C.V., and Empacadora Fruticola Santa Inés S.A. de C.V.
Travelers scholarship
Three undergraduate were awarded $4,250 scholarships through Travelers.
The recipients are full-time students majoring in accounting, computer engineering, computer science, finance, general business, general management, human resources or networking.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the students also had to be interested in a career with Travelers.
The scholarship recipients are attending the following institutions:
J.C. Penney scholarship
Eight students were awarded $2,500 scholarships through the J.C. Penney Leadership Excellence Internship Program.
The recipients are full-time students majoring in business, retail, supply chain/logistics or related fields and have worked in the retail industry.
The scholarship recipients are attending the following institutions:
Sodexo scholarship
Five students were awarded $2,500 scholarships through Sodexo.
Following the completion of a 10-week internship with Sodexo, the students were awarded the scholarships.
The recipients are attending the following institutions:
NASCAR scholarship
Six undergraduate and graduate students were awarded $2,200 scholarships through NASCAR.
The recipients are full-time students majoring in business, engineering, public relations, mass media, technology, sports marketing or marketing/management.
The scholarship recipients are attending the following institutions:
Escoboza scholarship
Three students were awarded $1,000 scholarships through Gilberto Salazar Escoboza and his companies.
Advocates for healthy food and sustainable agriculture, Escoboza and his companies awarded scholarships to students majoring in agriculture, ecological science or environmental science.

Other recipients received scholarships from Denny’s and Kia Motors.
