"The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) received $25,000 from the Coors Brewing Company in November 2001. The announcement was made during HACU's 15th Annual Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. HACU/Coors Light Academic Success in Education (CLASE) Scholarship program for the 2002-2003 academic year will be funded by this donation.

""HACU is very excited about the continued scholarship support Coors has offered to students at HACU-Member and Partner Institutions,"" said Dr. Antonio R. Flores, HACU President and CEO. ""Their support has been and will continue to be crucial to our mission: To be the champions of Hispanic success in higher education.""

The WATCHA Tour presented by Coors Light was last summer's hottest ""rock en español"" concert show. In addition to Coors' contribution, La Ley, a popular group from Santiago, Chile, joined the tour in 18 markets and contributed a portion of the California ticket proceeds to HACU and the CLASE scholarship program. The CLASE scholarships will be awarded to outstanding, full-time undergraduate (continuing or freshman) students of any major attending a HACU-Member or Partner Institution in a WATCHA Tour state or Puerto Rico. Students who wish to apply must possess a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2. In addition to meeting these requirements, students must also demonstrate financial need through eligibility for financial aid from a federal or state-funded program. The deadline to submit an application is June 28, 2002.
