Students learn about college through HACU, U.S. Army Tour

Approximately 700 high school students from the Los Angeles, California, area are learning about college and university life at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), through the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and U.S. Army University Tour.

The HACU/U.S. Army University Tour program provides high school students the opportunity to participate - some for the first time - in campus tours to learn more about pathways to higher education.

In addition to a daily tour of the university campus, students are attending workshops on admission, financial aid, campus resources and educational opportunities offered through the U.S. Army.

Participating schools are:
- Bishop Alemany High School
- Chino High School
- Costa Mesa High School
- Crown Prep Academy
- Los Amigos High School
- North High School
- Paramount High School
- San Fernando Sr. High School
- Santa Ana High School
- U.S. Grant High School
- USC Cinematic Arts

The University Tour includes a Parent/Community Open House to allow students and parents to learn about admission, financial aid and scholarship opportunities available at the University of California, Los Angeles. The open house will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the UCLA Kerckhoff Hall/Ackerman Student Union on 309 Westwood Plaza in Los Angeles, California.

HACU is also hosting a free Counselors’ Seminar on post-secondary opportunities for first-generation students for high school counselors and pre-college advisors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the UCLA Ackerman Union also on the campus.
