HACU president to speak at National Latino Climate Leadership Forum

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) President Antonio R. Flores will be a speaker on the session “Building Leadership - Who, How, What’s Needed,” at the National Latino Climate Leadership Forum 2016 on June 17 in Washington, D.C. The forum has invited over 75 national Hispanic and Latino health, faith, business, education, culture, community, government and environmental leaders to discuss and explore Latino leadership on climate solutions.

The goal of the forum is to expand collaboration by identifying opportunities for Latino leaders to work with each other in addressing climate issues. Current research shows that Hispanics and Latinos are significantly more likely than other Americans to view climate change as extremely or very important to them personally (54% vs. 37%) and to support policies to curb it (63% vs. 49%).

Other event speakers will include:

  • Vanessa Hauc, Telemundo’s Noticiero Telemundo
  • Stephanie Herrera, Hispanic Heritage Foundation
  • Edwin Luevanos, Citizen Energy
  • Kimberly Wasserman Nieto, LVEJO

The National Latino Climate Leadership Forum is organized by ecoAmerica with support from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, World Wildlife Fund/Climatico (host), and partners.
