HACU Town Hall to focus on creating opportunities for Hispanics through media and education with celebrity speakers Cheech Marin, Esai Morales

The Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) and the Latino Thought Makers will present a Town Hall on "Latinos are the Solution, Not the Problem: How Latinos in Media and Education Are Changing the Narrative and Creating Opportunities Now More than Ever,” Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., as part of its 31st Annual Conference taking place at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

Celebrity speakers Cheech Marin, Justina Machado will join David Villarino Gonzalez and host Rick Najera. The speakers will discuss the importance of preparing for success in the changing American landscape and connecting with community empowerment opportunities by exploring how Latinos tell their own stories and build bridges to an equitable future.


Marin is an actor, director, writer, musician, art collector, and humanitarian; Morales is an actor, Netflix’s Ozark, La Bamba. Gonzalez is president of the board of directors and CEO of the Farmworker Institute of Education and Leadership Development (FIELD Institute); and Najera is an award-winning sketch comedian, screenwriter, director, producer, actor, author, playwright, coach and national speaker.

Admission to the Town Hall is available with a HACU Conference Registration. Online registration closes Oct. 13.
