HACU president speaks at Adelante’s National Leadership Institute Gala

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities' (HACU) President and CEO Antonio R. Flores gave opening remarks at the Adelante’s National Leadership Institute Gala on October 14, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.

Flores, who serves as chair of the board of the ¡ADELANTE! U.S. Education Leadership Fund, was followed by keynote speaker Koy McDermott. Presentations of several awards were part of the evening activities.

The event included students, university staff members, and corporate partners from Florida, Illinois, Arkansas, North Carolina, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, Colorado, Washington, Wisconsin, and Texas.

In 1993 Miller Brewing Company and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) established the Adelante U.S. Education Leadership Fund program, a vehicle to unite the needs of Corporate America with the needs of the growing college-age Hispanic population. Five years later, the Adelante U.S. Education Leadership Fund became a separate non-profit 501(c)(3) organization funded exclusively through corporate, individual and philanthropic contributions. It provides scholarships, internships, and an annual Leadership Institute to prepare students for corporate careers.
