"SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) received a $100,000 grant from the General Motors Foundation to support HACU and a HACU/General Motors engineering scholarship program.

The philanthropic foundation of global automotive giant General Motors Corp. has been a long-time partner of HACU in funding scholarships for engineering students at HACU member colleges and universities.

""HACU applauds the General Motors Foundation's commitment to Hispanic higher education and to workplace diversity,"" said HACU President Antonio R. Flores.

""This investment in the academic and career success of our Hispanic college students will benefit all of us in an economy demanding higher skills-especially in engineering, mathematics and science fields,"" Flores said.

HACU represents more than 270 colleges and universities with high Hispanic student enrollment rates. Collectively, these campuses educate more than two-thirds of all Hispanic higher education students. "
