Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Jalima Coffee announce new partnership

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Jalima Coffee announce the signing of a new strategic alliance.

The new alliance allows students, alumni, faculty and staff of HACU member colleges and universities to purchase Jalima Coffee at a discount off the retail price.  In addition, HACU member institutions and their retailers and vendors can receive a discount off the regular wholesale price.  A rebate on all sales through the alliance will also support HACU’s work to champion Hispanic higher education.

More than 450 colleges and universities represented by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and their more that 4.6 million students are potential beneficiaries of the partnership program.  HACU is the only national educational association that represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) whose student enrollment is at least 25 percent Hispanic.

Jalima Coffee’s mission is “to provide coffee products of unsurpassed quality and flavor.”  Jalima imports their specialty organically grown coffees from Chiapas and Veracruz, Mexico.

“We operate in a fashion that highlights our commitment to the quality of our products, the quality of life for the people who produce them, and the quality of the environment where they are produced,” explained Janet Allen, Jalima’s Chief Operating Officer.  Part of the commitment to social responsibility includes “helping the farmers to find ways to ensure the sustainability of not only the means to their survival but of the environment that is crucial to the protection and preservation of our fragile ecosystem.”

“We at HACU have been enjoying Jalima Coffee in the office for the last few months.  We know our member institutions will too,” said Dr. Antonio Flores, HACU President and CEO. “This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a favorite beverage at a savings, support the growers and the environment, and support Hispanic higher education all at the same time!”
