HACU 17th Annual Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute agenda and speakers announced

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has announced the agenda of its 17th Annual Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute, pre-conference event taking place on Oct. 6, 2018, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Atlanta, Georgia.

The one-day Institute for faculty, staff and administrators will focus on strategies for moving up the faculty and administrative ladders in higher education. The morning speakers will include Sofia Ramos, Ph.D., Luminario Education Strategies, Rodrigo Renteria-Valencia, Ph.D., Central Washington University, followed by roundtable workshops on the following topics: 

  • Managing Money: Balancing expenditures and generating income - Budgets, Funding Sources, and Enrollment Management
  • Strategic Planning: Moving an agenda forward – Visionary Planning, Campus Planning, and Communications
  • Managing People: Getting the most out of your teams - Faculty Recruitment and Engagement, Team Building, and Conflict Resolution

After a luncheon, the afternoon keynote address will be given by Joseph Castro, Ph.D., president, California University State, Fresno. A  Presidents’ Panel including: Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, Ph.D., president, Queens College; CUNY, Frank D. Sánchez, Ph.D., president, Rhode Island College; Maria Harper-Marinick, Ph.D., chancellor, Maricopa Community Colleges, and Margaret H. Venable, Ph.D., president, Dalton State College will conclude the panel presentations for the day. 

The 17th Annual Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute, is a pre-conference event of HACU's 32nd Annual Conference, Oct. 6-8, 2018, taking place at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Atlanta, Georgia.
