HACU Online Resource Center for DACA/DREAMers and HSIs

A new national online resource center “Community Resource Center” for DACA/DREAMers and Hispanic-Serving Institutions is available on the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities website. The online portal was launched as part of an initiative of the Act on the Dream” Coalition, convened by HACU. Click here to visit the web page.

More than 35 national higher education organizations and immigration stakeholders are part of the Coalition. Among the areas of discussions for the Coalition have been strategies to support passage of the DREAM Act and resources to support DACA students, DREAMers, their families, and institutions of higher education.

The online Community Resource Center includes the following six categories of information:

National Organizations Supporting DACA/DREAMers

• A list of organizations that provide ongoing support and information for DACA/DREAMers andtheir families.

Resources for DACA/DREAMers

• A list of external organizations providing students with information on college funding sources and how-to guidelines for creating a safe and supportive college environment for undocumented students.

DACA Resources for Colleges and Universities

• A list of information directed to faculty/staff and institutions of higher education as a resource for supporting DACA/DREAMer students. Included in this section are toolkits and guidelines designed to provide step-by-step directions and general information on creating a supportive campus climate.

DACA Legal Resources

• A list of up-to-date resources on current rights for DACA students and immigration information.

Government Resources

• A list of information made available by federal agencies to support DACA students and their families.

Examples of Best DACA Practices in Higher Education

• A list of best DACA practices that provide examples of supportive efforts undertaken by colleges and universities across the country ranging from student centers to institutional statements.
