The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities honored several individuals and organizations as part of its annual awards. Honorees were recognized during HACU’s Annual Conference,"Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success: Building America’s Future," Oct. 6-8, 2018, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis where Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms gave a welcome address during Monday's luncheon.
The awardees were selected for their contributions to improving opportunities for college students and honored during conference events. Three awards were presented during the Opening Plenary and additional recognitions were made during the Power Lunch on Oct. 7 and the Partnership Lunch on Oct. 8:
Universidad Metropolitana received the Outstanding HACU-Member Institution award for excellence in support of HACU’s mission.
Jorge Caballero, Senior Partner at Deloitte Tax LLP, received the President's Award of Excellence for outstanding service to Hispanic higher education success.
The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, U.S. Representative, received the Exemplary Policy Advocacy Leadership Award for exemplary leadership and support of HACU’s policy issues.
Deloitte received the Outstanding Private Sector Partner for outstanding leadership and support of HACU’s mission.
United States Department of Agriculture – Agriculture Research Service received the Outstanding Public Sector Partner for outstanding leadership and support of HACU’s mission.
