HACU hosts information sessions at Café Bustelo® Pop-Up Café in Houston

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will be hosting three free information sessions on April 23, 2019, at the Café Bustelo® Pop-Up Café located at 3615 Montrose Blvd. in Houston, TX.

A HACU representative will be on site to answer questions regarding the HACU Scholarship Program, which includes the Café Bustelo® El Café del Futuro Scholarship. A portion of the proceeds from the café on this day will go towards the HACU Scholarship Program.

HACU Café Bustelo Scholarship information sessions will take place at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m..  Raffle prizes will be given away to students along with other items throughout the day. Students attending the sessions will be eligible for:

  • Free small regular coffee or Cafecito to first 100 students
  • Free “Yo heart Houston” travel coffee tumbler for first 30 students
  • Raffle prizes at each workshop session

Café Bustelo® will award twenty eligible college students $5,000 El Café del Futuro Scholarships. To enter, students should complete the online application located on the HACU website and write an essay in English or Spanish, in 800 words or less, responding to the following topic:

Describe how your Latino heritage, family and the community in which you grew up have impacted your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree. Additionally, describe what you intend to accomplish with your degree and how you will give back to your community.

The scholarship opportunity is available to students who are enrolled full-time at a HACU-member institution, are 18 years old or older, of Hispanic/Latino descent and U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents.

All applications must be received by Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
