National Endowment for the Humanities: Now Accepting Applications for Summer Stipends Program

Application due: September 25, 2019

Expected notification date: April 30, 2020

Project start date: May 1, 2020

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is now accepting applications for its Summer Stipends program. The program aims to stimulate new research in the humanities and its publication by supporting the work of individual scholars doing research or writing. Anyone can apply, as long as they are not a degree candidate at time of application. The grant amount is $6,000, and the application deadline is September 25, 2019. Full application information is at:

NEH is furthering its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the humanities by encouraging applications from independent scholars and faculty at Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and other Minority-Serving Institutions.

The NEH especially encourage you to share this grant opportunity with junior faculty. Although this is a very competitive program, the relatively short application and the focused time period make it a good way for junior faculty to lay the foundation for future grant applications.

Webinar - Wednesday, June 26th from 1:00-2:00 PM EST

The NEH will host a webinar to introduce potential applicants and administrators to the program, describe the nomination process, and offer grant-writing suggestions. There will be a chance to ask questions, and it will be recorded so others can watch it later.

The webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26th from 1:00-2:00 PM EST.  To register, click the following link:

If you have any questions should contact the NEH Summer Stipends program staff, at or 202-606-8200.
