HSI STEM Resource Hub to sponsor Data Science workshops for HSI faculty at the University of Washington

The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Resource Hub is partnering with the NSF West Big Data Innovation Hub and the University of Washington eScience Institute to offer an introductory data science workshop.
Workshop Description: This two-day workshop is designed for STEM faculty at Hispanic-Serving Institutions of higher education who would like to incorporate data science into their curriculum. The workshop will provide an overview of data science methods, tools and approaches for incorporating data science in the STEM curriculum
Dates/Location: The workshop will be held September 16 - 17, 2019 at the University of Washington eScience Institute.
Intended Audience: The workshop is for faculty working at Hispanic-Serving Institutions who seek to incorporate data science into their courses and the curriculum. Preference is for applicants (1) who are from 2-year or 4-year institutions; (2) who are within their first 10 years of academic appointment, and (3) whose institutions are located in the West Census Region of the United States.

Cost, travel and accommodations: Accepted applicants will be eligible to apply for funds to offset the cost of attendance. Attendees are responsible for arranging and paying for their travel and accommodations. A limited number of rooms for a special price have been arranged that must be reserved by the deadline.
