HACU College and Career Fair-Chicago to offer free workshops, Oct. 6

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will host a free College and Career Fair that will be open to the public on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall Salon A - Lower Level of the Hilton Chicago. No registration is required and families are invited to attend. 

Some of the workshop topics will include the following:

  • Admissions 101

    Successful tips on what to do and not do when applying to colleges and universities.

  • Preparing for Careers in Social Justice

    This workshop will help students understand the social justice context of life after graduation and identify the benefits of working in a social justice-oriented career. Attendees will be able to determine which skills and experiences best prepare them for a career in social justice.

  • Financial Aid 101

    Information and resources on understanding financial aid guidelines, types of aid and the best financial aid packages.

  • Science of a Resume

    A highly interactive session using experiential learning methods co-empowering all learners on the technical aspects of creating an awesome resume for any field through the lens of a human resource professional. Bring a laptop with your resume on it so you can revise it during the session and get suggestions for improvement by the facilitator as well.

  • Things to Know When Pursuing a Master’s Degree

The purpose of this panel is to share tips with those considering the pursuit of a master’s degree.

The event will also connect attendees with local and national university representatives at the Exhibit Hall, providing the opportunity for networking with nationwide employers offering internship and employment opportunities for college students. Click here for an event flyer.
