HACU Webinar: Supporting Broader Impacts in STEM Equity by Connecting Across HSIs
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will offer a free webinar for members on September 19, 2019, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. CDT. The webinar will provide an overview of recommendations from a recently published report entitled “Transforming STEM Education at Hispanic-Serving Institutions in the United States: A Consensus Report,” and will focus on how to enable change at HSIs, particularly new and emerging HSIs, as they seek to strengthen equity at their respective campuses.
The report highlights six major themes, encompassing 13 critical focus areas, that emerged from the authors’ analyses of the conference transcripts. Each focus area includes one or more sets of recommendations for ensuring inclusive support systems for undergraduate students at HSIs and emerging HSIs. This session will discuss (1) key findings and recommendations of the consensus report, and (2) the utility the report offers to HSIs and emerging HSIs as they seek to strengthen their commitment to “servingness.” The full report is available here.
The University of Arizona staff will provide updates on what you need to know about the report entitled “Transforming STEM Education at Hispanic-Serving Institutions in the United States: A Consensus Report.” This webinar is part of Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week and will follow with a question and answer period.
