HACU hosts Emerging Leaders Summit event at Concordia University Texas

 

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is hosting an Emerging Leaders Summit focused on preparing students for internships and career opportunities in various fields. The event brings together over 100 local students from 18 colleges and universities with professionals and corporate representatives for a one-day event on Sept. 17, 2019, at Concordia University Texas in Austin, Texas.

Opening remarks will be given by Kristi Kirk, executive vice president and provost of Concordia University Texas. Students participating represent the following majors: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), finance, accounting, business, communications and marketing.

Workshop topics will focus on career preparation, interviewing skills, and securing internship opportunities. The agenda sessions include: “Beyond Hollywood: Get the Real Perspective on Cool Opportunities in the Central Intelligence Agency,” “The Power of Storytelling – Strategies to Leverage your Experience and Join Team USDA,” and “2020 Vision: The Power of Your Professional Identity.”

Information about the HACU National Internship Program will also be provided to participants. Representatives from the following corporations will be present to meet with students during the Employer Resource Fair: Cintas Inc.; Google; NetApp; United States Department of Agriculture; Deloitte; CIA; and Fannie Mae: Future Housing Leaders.
