HACU to host a U.S. Department of Education virtual briefing for Hispanic-Serving Institutions on HEERF funding

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is partnering with the U.S. Department of Education to offer a virtual briefing for Hispanic-Serving Institutions on the American Rescue Plan’s Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) funding. HACU has invited its member presidents/CEOs, chancellors, CFOs, heads of financial aid and grants to the virtual briefing, being held on Monday, May 24, 2021, 2-2:30 p.m. EDT

The American Rescue Plan Act, or ARP Act, was signed into law on March 2021. This bill allowed $1.9 trillion to provide fast and direct economic aid to the American people negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Of that money, approximately $39.6 billion was given to the Office of Postsecondary Education as HEERF III. ED released $36 billion in ARP HEERF III funds on May 11.

Michelle Asha Cooper, Ph.D. Acting Assistant Secretary, Office of Postsecondary Education will provide guidance on this allocation. A questions and answer session will follow.

This briefing is an invitation only event, intended only for college and university senior administrators. Invitations have been emailed to selected attendees. Please note that the meeting will be off-the-record.
