HACU announces National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week to be observed, Sept. 13-19, 2021

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced National Hispanic-Serving Institutions week will be observed Sept. 13-19, 2021. The observance takes place during National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated Sept. 15-Oct. 15.

According to the most recent analysis of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) enrollment data by HACU from the 2019-20 academic year, 569 Hispanic-Serving Institutions are in 185 Congressional Districts in 28 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Each year, HACU government relations staff works with members of Congress to recognize the contributions of Hispanic-Serving Institutions in their communities.

HACU-member HSIs are encouraged to observe the week with campus activities to heighten awareness of the important role HSIs play in improving access to education and advancing equity for traditionally underserved students.

Celebrate National HSIs Week and Tag @HACUNews on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and use hashtag #HSIsWeek. Or email to share your stories and to let HACU know what your institution has planned.
