HACU President and CEO featured in National Leader Interview

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities President and CEO Antonio R. Flores was a featured guest on Empowering Latino Futures’ National Leader Interview on Nov. 20, 2021. His insights on current trends for Latinos in college, representation in the federal and corporate sector, and HACU’s goals for the future success of Hispanics in higher education were discussed with Kirk Whistler, board president of Empowering Latino Futures.

Flores also spoke on recent and upcoming legislation addressing investments in education, health and infrastructure benefitting Hispanics, representation in the federal government, immigration reform, and ensuring Hispanic-Serving Institutions receive a fair share of federal resources. Equitable funding could be reached with the establishment of a presidential advisory board. “Hispanic-Serving Institutions are the only cohort of Minority-Serving Institutions that don’t have a presidential advisory board to advise President Biden and the Secretary of Education on how to best strengthen HSIs,” said Flores, stressing “We need that board right now.”
