Bipartisan Senate Resolution recognizes 30th Anniversary of HACU National Internship Program
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities applauds the U.S. Senate for recognizing the contributions made by HACU National Internship Program. A bipartisan Senate Resolution introduced by U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), co-founders and co-chairs of the Hispanic-Serving Institutions Senate Caucus, alongside Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) recognizes the 30th Anniversary of the HACU National Internship Program.
The Senate Resolution celebrates the HNIP legacy of increasing diversity in the Federal Government and the private sector.
The Resolution also recognizes that HNIP has been cited in the Hispanic Nine Point Plan by the Office of Personnel Management as a resource to increase the recruitment of Hispanic interns in the Federal Government; and has produced over 14,000 alumni who are now in the Federal Government, State or local government, and private industry. Flores. “We are grateful to all our federal and corporate partners who have given our interns from Hispanic-Serving Institutions and other colleges and universities invaluable opportunities to gain real world experience to help shape the future workforce of this nation.”
