U.S. Department of Homeland Security webinar on TVTP grant program

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will host a HACU-member webinar presented by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on the Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) Grant Program.

The webinar will provide information about this competitive funding opportunity available to assist local communities in developing sustainable capabilities to prevent targeted violence and terrorism in the United States. DHS representatives will provide an overview of the grant and the application process.

Congress has provided $20 million for the following priorities:

  • Implementing Prevention Capabilities in Small and Mid-Sized Communities
  • Advancing Equity in Awards and Engaging Underserved Communities in Prevention
  • Addressing Online Aspects of Terrorism and Targeted Violence
  • Preventing Domestic Violent Extremism; and
  • Enhancing Local Threat Assessment and Management Capabilities

HSI representatives to speak at Fulbright Program Symposium for HACU member institutions

The Fulbright Program will host a Fulbright HSI Symposium on Wednesday, April 27, 3:00-5:00 PM EST to discuss Fulbright opportunities, resources for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), benefits of a Fulbright experience, and the role that the Program plays in supporting HSI campus internationalization, global awareness, and engagement.

Attendees will learn information about best practices for engaging with the Fulbright Program. Institutions will learn more about programs to further improve the student experience and degree outcomes and offer developmental opportunities for faculty and staff.

The program will include speakers from four HSIs, including the University of Houston, Montclair State University, California State University, Chico, and Florida International University, as well as the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Institute of International Education, and video remarks on the Fulbright HSI Leaders Initiative by CUNY Chancellor Félix V.
