Call for Applications - 2009 HACU-DHHS Professions Capacity Building Program

Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) are encouraged to submit applications to participate in the summer 2009 HACU/United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Professions Capacity Building Program.

The purpose of the program is to increase the participation of HSIs and entry-level faculty in grant development efforts that will improve the health status of Hispanics and other minority populations, including disease prevention and health promotion activities. The program is designed to expand federal health care grant and contract opportunities at your campuses.

The summer program is open to administrators and support staff in Office of Sponsored Programs and Research – or its equivalent program. Please forward this information to appropriate program administrators and support staff at your institution.

Selected participants will receive paid travel and lodging expenses, along with a stipend. The program includes a pre-workshop online course, two workshops in San Antonio, Texas, and a workshop in Bethesda, Maryland. The program provides an overview of funding opportunities available through the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
