Flores meets with Puerto Rico colleges and universities

Antonio Flores, President and CEO of HACU, recently met with leaders of colleges and universities in Puerto Rico. During a presentation at the University of Sacred Heart, Flores highlighted HACU’s 2008 accomplishments and discussed 2009 initiatives. Attendees discussed ideas for improving Hispanic higher education, including needed legislation and increased funding for Hispanic-Serving Institutions.

Colleges and universities present were asked to unite with HACU to strengthen advocacy efforts toward the new President and new Congress. The meeting, held on Feb 6, precedes an important HACU event.

HACU members will convene March 1-3, 2009, in Washington, D.C., for the 14th Annual Capitol Forum, “New President, New Congress, New Agenda,” at The Madison Hotel. The Capital Forum includes visits to Capitol Hill, which allow leaders in the Hispanic higher education community to interact directly with key members of the House and Senate.
