Flores signs MOU between HACU and the National GEM Consortium, Inc.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and National GEM Consortium Inc. (GEM) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in order to educate and promote graduate and career opportunities in STEM fields for underrepresented students.

This agreement between the organzations is to promote graduate and career education in engineering and science to a larger audience and to advance the achievement of the mission of each organization. The agreement proposes to:

• Encourage underrepresented students to pursue advanced degrees and careers in engineering, math, and science;

• Increase GEM’s access to a pool of high-achieving, undergraduate and graduate students who are underrepresented in engineering, math, and science; and

• Increase corporate and university support of both organizations.

HACU President and CEO, Antonio Flores and Executive Director of GEM, Michele Lezama signed on behalf of the organizations. The signing took place at HACU’s 14th Annual Capitol Forum, held in Washington D.C., March 1-3.
