HACU listed among top Hispanic non-profits in the U.S.

The May 2009 issue of Hispanic Business magazine lists HACU in its 2009 Top 25 Hispanic non-profits in the country. The magazine ranks non-profits by their previous year’s expenditures.

In its 2008 Annual Report, HACU President and CEO Antonio Flores reported: increased funding to its institutions with the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, which increased the authorization level of Title V funding for HSIs to $175 million and established a separately funded program geared to promoting post-baccalaureate opportunities for Hispanic students. The Farm Bill reauthorization created five new programs for Hispanic-Serving Agriculture Colleges and Universities, including the establishment of an endowment fund for these institutions. Over the years, HACU’s advocacy efforts have produced well over one billion dollars for HSIs and Hispanic higher education.
