HACU seeking alumni for the President’s Volunteer Service Award program

HACU alumni can now begin tracking their volunteer hours to participate in the President’s Volunteer Service Awards program. HACU alumni include anyone who has participated in a HACU student program such as the HACU National Internship Program, the Annual Conference Student Track, or who has received a HACU scholarship. Here are a few steps to follow:

(1) HACU alumni should register and keep track of volunteer hours for HACU-related activities by signing up at www.presidentialserviceawards.gov.

(2) Identify HACU as the Certifying Organization using the code: NVH-38251.

(3) Once you have registered online, be sure to notify HACU by sending an email to Anais Sori, HACU Alumni Relations Coordinator at alumni@hacu.net

HACU-related activities include promoting HACU Student Programs as a HACU Alumni Ambassador, working with other alumni to volunteer at HACU events, or participating in HACU Alumni Association Activities.

There are three levels of the President’s Volunteer Service Award individuals can receive varying by hours of service completed within a 12-month period. Adults, ages 26 and up, can attain the Bronze Award by completing 100 - 249 hours, the Silver Award by completing 250 - 499 hours, and the Gold Award by completing more than 500 hours.

Two or more volunteers can also register as a family or group. The Award levels in this category are the Bronze Award for those completing 200 - 499 hours, the Silver Award for those completing 500 - 999 hours, and the Gold Award for those completing more than 1,000 hours. Each member of the family or group must complete a minimum of 25 hours of the total hours tracked.

Award recipients can receive: an official President’s Volunteer Service Award lapel pin; a personalized certificate of achievement; a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States; and a letter from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.
