HACU Executive Director of Western States Legislative Affairs nominated as "Líder of the Year" by MillerCoors

Vote for HACU to receive a $25,000 grant for a community leadership project

HACU asks for your online vote for Erica Romero, HACU Executive Director of Western States Legislative Affairs, to be named "Líder of the Year" by MillerCoors.

If Romero receives the most votes, HACU will receive a $25,000 grant for a community leadership project with MillerCoors.

Romero has been a tireless advocate for education and has championed the advancement of higher education in the Latino community throughout her career.  In her position at HACU, she advocates for policies which benefit Hispanic-Serving Institutions in the states of Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington in areas related to funding for higher education, state financial aid, and programs to ensure access and success for Latino students.  Romero also works with HACU’s Federal Government Relations Office to promote similar federal policies.

The 2009 Líderes nominees are from different sectors, including business, education and community-based organizations. Each was selected because of the positive impact they made in their community.

This is the second year that HACU has been recognized for its contribution to the Latino community.  Romero follows in the footsteps of Dr. Antonio R. Flores, President and CEO of HACU, who in 2008 was nominated as a 2008 MillerCoors Líder for his outstanding work on behalf of HACU.

The public is invited to go to the Web site, www.MillerCoorsLideres.com, and vote. You must be 21 or older to vote.

HACU encourages you to vote for Erica Romero and pass the information along to others so they can vote, too.
