HACU announces new chair and members for the HACU Health Sciences Advisory Council (HSAC):
HSAC is a part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)-HACU Professions Capacity Building Program that acts in an advisory capacity to assist HACU. The contributions of the HSAC enhance HACU’s efforts to address the continued under-representation of Hispanics in the sciences, specifically in the area of health sciences, health disparities, and STEM issues.
Other HSAC members include: Dr. Benjamin D. Ortiz, associate professor, Department of Biological Sciences, City University of New York, Hunter College; Dr. Robert Ross, professor, RISE Program, University of Puerto Rico, Cayey; Dr. Elba Serrano, professor, Department of Biology, New Mexico State University; Dr. Antonia M. Villarruel, professor, School of Nursing, University of Michigan; and Ex-Officio Dr. Raymond T. Garza, professor, Department of Psychology, The University of Texas at San Antonio.
