DENVER, Colorado – A Colorado student majoring in hospitality and tourism was awarded a $2,500 scholarship today from the Adam’s Mark Hotel. The hotel in downtown Denver is the site of the 16th Annual Conference of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).

Eduardo Navarro, who is attending Pueblo Community College in Colorado, was selected from among hundreds of top college students from throughout the country attending HACU’s 16th Annual Conference: “ Hispanic Empowerment: America’s Key to Prosperity.” Navarro also is a past participant in the HACU National Internship Program – the nation’s largest Hispanic college internship program.

“It is rewarding to witness the contribution of distinguished Colorado corporate citizens such as the Adam’s Mark Hotel in top college students from their state. Investing in Colorado students is an investment in the future. We applaud the Adam’s Mark Hotel for awarding this scholarship. We congratulate Mr. Navarro, his family, his instructors and the leadership of Pueblo Community College,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio Flores.

The award was presented at the Opening Reception Saturday of HACU’s 16th Annual Conference, which is under way through Tuesday, October 29. Hundreds of the nation’s best-known Hispanic higher education leaders and advocates are participating in this national platform for promoting the college and career needs of the nation’s youngest and largest ethnic population.

Mr. Navarro is a former intern at Marriott International and at the Walt Disney Company, where he learned about day-to-day operations of the hospitality/tourism industry and assisted with bilingual translations of promotional and education materials.

HACU represents 335 colleges and universities serving the largest concentrations of Hispanic higher education students in the United States.
