Flores to speak at Hispanic Education Summits
in California and Texas

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores will be visiting California and Texas at the end of March as part of the HACU on the Road tour and also to speak at Hispanic Education Summits being held on the days of the visits.

Flores will be among the panelists discussing the “The Policies and Politics of Educational Access and Opportunity” when California State University-San Bernardino hosts its first Latino Education and Advocacy Day, or LEAD, “A Day of Courageous Conversations” on March 29, 2010. LEAD will convene educators and advocates to promote awareness of the crisis in Latino education. Earlier that same day, Flores will participate in a HACU on the Road visit, hosted by the San Bernardino Community College District.

Another inaugural summit will take place with education leaders in the Lubbock, Texas area, where the 2010 Latino Education Summit will convene on March 31. The event organized by Texas Tech University will address educational access concerns for the growing Hispanic community. Flores will speak at the event, along with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Commissioner of Higher Education Raymond Paredes, superintendents, and university and college presidents
