HACU continues outreach to help Haitian universities affected by earthquake

Shortly after the devastating earthquake in Haiti of Jan. 12, 2010, HACU started a campaign to reach out to HACU-member institutions in the U.S. as well as in other countries. The purpose of this outreach is to try to find support for affected universities by way of scholarships for Haitian students and fellowships for faculty. Other support, including equipment and financial donations, is also encouraged.

The Université Chretienne du Nord d’Haiti (North Haiti Christian University) is currently requesting support for a grant for its women’s dormitory that will allow them to expand facilities to receive students from Port-au-Prince, the most highly affected area during the earthquake. This project has a total budget of $ 200,000. Donations are being accepted from generous donors at HACU-member institutions.

For potential donations or further information contact Dr. Jules Casseus, President, North Haiti Christian University at jcasseus@mac.com or by telephone at 786-539-5010 or 509-3-777-1327.
