Webinar to showcase volunteer opportunities outside the U.S.

Students interested in exploring options available to serve as volunteers can view, “Where would you go? What would you do?,” a webinar offering information about opportunities for public service abroad. The webinar, sponsored by the Peace Corps, will be aired twice on Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. EST and 6 p.m. PST. (Click on the time desired to register for the webinar. The webinars are open to the public. Registered participants can join the session by entering “Peace1” as the password).

Volunteers work in areas such as education, youth and community development, health, business and information and communications technology, agriculture, and environment in more than 70 countries throughout Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Opportunities are available for current students and college graduates.

HACU is among the eight higher education organizations that partnered with the Peace Corps in September 2010 to help provide information to the next generation of volunteers. Besides HACU, other  organizations involved include: The American Indian Higher Education Consortium, The Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund, The Council of 1890 Universities, The Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Phelps Stokes, The Thurgood Marshall College Fund and The United Negro College Fund.
