HACU collaborates with education supporters to bring its 2011 national conference on Hispanic higher education to San Antonio

On Feb. 15, representatives of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) met with local education supporters who will serve on a Host & Planning Committee for its upcoming annual conference. The annual conference, “25 Years of Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success,” will be hosted Oct. 29-31, 2011 in San Antonio, the city where the association was founded in 1986. Representatives from the following local institutions were in attendance at the first meeting held at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio:

  • Northside Independent School District
  • Our Lady of the Lake University
  • Palo Alto College
  • Pflugerville Independent School District
  • San Antonio College
  • St. Phillip’s College
  • Southwest Independent School District
  • Texas A&M University, San Antonio
  • Trinity University
  • University of Texas at San Antonio
  • University of the Incarnate Word

The following annual conference events are planned:

Oct. 29-31, HACU 25th Annual Conference
Oct. 29, HACU 10th Annual Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Oct. 31, HACU’s 25th Anniversary Gala, 6:30-11:30 p.m.

An estimated 1,500 conference participants from colleges, universities nationwide and internationally, as well as representatives of school districts, corporations and federal agencies, are expected to attend HACU’s 25th Annual Conference taking place at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio.
