HACU president participates in “Bridges and Pathways: A Latino-Jewish Dialogue”

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores participated in a presentation about “Higher Education: Broadening Horizons for Cooperation,” a strategic dialogue conference co-hosted by San Antonio, Texas Mayor Julián Castro and Bridges and Pathways: A Latino-Jewish Dialogue on May 28.

Flores’ presentation was part of a panel entitled “Education – Key Role to Tomorrow’s Success” moderated by Dr. Tessa Martinez Pollack, President of HACU-member institution Our Lady of the Lake University. Other presenters on the panel included:

  • Maria “Cuca” Robledo Montecel, Executive Director, Intercultural Development Research Association, San Antonio, TX
  • The Honorable Florence D. Shapiro, Texas State Senator, Chair Senate Education Committee
  • Dr. David Altman, Senior Vice President, Netanya Academic College, Israel

Flores also served as co-captain of a roundtable discussion on “Education, Immigration and National Security.”

“Bridges and Pathways: A Latino-Jewish Dialogue” is a group comprised of Jewish organizational leaders from the United States and Israel and Hispanic representatives from San Antonio. The group aims to generate meaningful dialogue between Jewish and Latino leaders on issues facing today’s society.
