Flores speaks about Latinos and the Digital Divide

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores recently spoke about Latinos and the Digital Divide to an audience of approximately 75 Hispanic government executives and public managers from San Antonio and South Texas.  Flores stressed the importance of education as a means of bridging the gap.

According to a recent report released by the Pew Hispanic Center, in 2010 only 65 percent of Hispanic households utilized the Internet compared to 77 percent for non-Hispanic white households and 66 percent for African-American households. Hispanics are 20 percent less likely than non-Hispanic whites to have home broadband access.

The presentation was part of a one-day workshop hosted by the International Hispanic Network on April 11, which also included discussions on the characteristics of Hispanic leadership, the crisis in public education, and the 2010 Census.
