HACU joins NHLA members to oppose federal budget cuts

On April 14, HACU was among the represented members of the National Hispanic Legislative Agenda (NHLA) who gathered on Capitol Hill for a news conference that outlined budgetary priorities for the Latino community. Those present urged Congress to pass a responsible budget which protects programs vital to the Hispanic community and the nation’s economic recovery.

HACU representative Serena Dávila, executive director of legislative affairs, spoke about the importance of funding for Hispanic education and expressed HACU’s opposition to cuts to Title V, the Upward Bound and TRIO programs. She also spoke of the importance of the continued funding of Pell Grants and STEM programs.
