IIE is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the China-U.S. Scholars Program (CUSP).  Students and scholars in the arts, humanities, or social sciences in the U.S., China, and Hong Kong SAR are invited to apply for a 5-10 month study, research, or teaching grant. Application Open: IIE American Passport Project. The application for institutions to participate in the IIE American Passport Project is now open and accessible on the program website. IIE will select a diverse group of U.S.-based IIENetwork members– including community colleges, HBCUs, MSIs, liberal arts colleges, and universities – with a demonstrated commitment to diversifying study abroad. Up to 40 awarded institutions will be chosen by a competitive selection process to receive funding for approximately 25 students per institution to obtain their U.S. passports and support their study abroad planning.   Application Period: February 22-April 2, 2021.  For more information, please click here.  (Posted February 25, 2021)

The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship Program provides opportunities for doctoral candidates to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. The program is designed to deepen research knowledge and increase the study of modern foreign languages, cultural engagement, and area studies not generally included in U.S. curricula.  Competition Now Open! The U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program will soon open its online application for students participating in credit-bearing study abroad programs and international internships during the summer 2019 and fall/academic year 2019-20 terms.  The Gilman Scholarship Program is an undergraduate grant program for U.S. citizens of limited financial means to enable them to study abroad, thereby internationalizing their outlook and better preparing them to thrive in the global economy. Fulbright U.S. Scholar - The 2020-2021 competition for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program will open in February 2019!  The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offered teaching, research and combination teaching/research awards in 137 countries for the 2019-2020 academic year. Global Learning Semesters (GLS) - GLS offers HACU-member institutions the excellent AbroadOffice software that is now being used by over twenty universities to administer their study abroad programs.  AbroadOffice is a FREE software service provided by Global Semesters as a capacity-building endeavor to help advance the field of study abroad. AbroadOffice was initially developed during a joint initiative between HACU (the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities) and Global Semesters with the objective of promoting study abroad for Hispanic students. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVANCEMENT AWARDS. Website: www.semesteratsea.org.  This scholarship ($1,500 - $10,000) is intended to help international students who study outside of the US. This aid is awarded based on academic achievement, leadership experience, and financial need. The HACU-AIFS Scholarship is available for outstanding Hispanic students attending a HACU-member institution. Scholarships cover 50% of the AIFS all-inclusive program fee. Students must meet all standard AIFS eligibility requirements. Application, essay and other required documents must be submitted by March 1 for the summer session. April 15 for academic year/fall quarter/fall semester, and Sept. 15 for spring quarter/spring semester. Castilian and Leones Institute of the Language Foundation - SPANISH LANGUAGE COURSES FOR FOREIGNERS 
Courses for foreigners throughout the year, at all levels, for individuals as well as groups, courses which allow students to become totally immersed in the Spanish language, courses for specific professions and courses for training teachers. OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS   

IIE Interactive -American Passport Project - With the competition launch in 2021, IIE will award funds to U.S.- based IIENetwork member colleges and universities so that they can help their first-year students who are eligible for Pell grants to obtain a US passport. IIE-GIRE (Graduate International Research Experiences) is a fellowship program that offers funding to doctoral engineering students to conduct innovative research abroad for 3 – 5 months. For the third cycle of the program (January - September 2021), up to 15 U.S. PhD candidates will be funded to spend 3 to 5 months abroad, conducting innovative research and creating ties between their home and host institution.  For more information, please click here.  (Posted September 9, 2020)

The World Education Research Association (WERA) is an association of major national, regional, and specialty education research associations dedicated to sharing scholarship, developing networks, and mutually supporting capacity building. The WERA 2021 Focal Meeting will be held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, from 7th to 9th of  July 2021. The main theme of the meeting will be Networking Education: Diverse Realities, Common Horizons. SIELE is the International Spanish Language Evaluation Service which certifies electronically the command of the Spanish language. SIELE is developed by the Instituto Cervantes, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Students and professionals take this examination in order to obtain a certification that will strengthen their academic and professional profile. SIELE is managed by Telefónica Educación Digital.
