The U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is pleased to announce that the online application is open for students participating in credit-bearing study abroad programs and international internships during the summer 2017 and fall/academic year 2017-18 terms.  The Gilman Scholarship Program is an undergraduate grant program for U.S. citizens of limited financial means to enable them to study abroad, thereby internationalizing their outlook and better preparing them to thrive in the global economy. The Teach & Learn in Spain Program at Instituto Franklin-Universidad de Alcalá is a practical, one year graduate experience specifically designed for native English-speaking students who want to complete a MA Program while serving as Language Assistants in bilingual schools of the Madrid area.  Students can choose one of the following programs:

U.S.-Argentina Focused Grant Competition - The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund is pleased to announce a new grant competition, supported by Chevron Corporation and the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The U.S.-Argentina Workforce Development Competition for Innovations in Study Abroad Partnerships & Collaboration is open only to higher education institutions in the U.S and Argentina that promote study abroad and training opportunities in the field of Economic Development and STEM, with a special emphasis on Energy, Geosciences, or Natural Resources Management. Global Learning Semesters (GLS) GLS through an agreement offers HACU-member institutions the excellent Abroad Office software that is now being used by over twenty universities to administer their study abroad programs.  AbroadOffice is a FREE software service provided by Global Semesters as a capacity building endeavor to help advance the field of study abroad. AbroadOffice was initially developed during a joint initiative between HACU (the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities)  and Global Semesters with the objective of promoting study abroad for Hispanic students.    For more information, please click here. SEMESTER AT SEA’S HACU VIDEO BLOGGING SCHOLARSHIP. Website: www.semesteratsea.org
This scholarship is open to current full-time students enrolled at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) that are members of the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU). SAS will select one HSI/HACU scholar for each voyage to receive a $10,000 grant to be used towards SAS program fees. Scholars will be required to video blog after each port throughout their voyage to share their in-port and shipboard experiences with future voyagers and the SAS community! INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVANCEMENT AWARDS. Website: www.semesteratsea.org
This scholarship ($1,500 - $10,000) is intended to help international students who study outside of the US. This aid is awarded based on academic achievement, leadership experience, and financial need. Students are asked how they will participate in the shipboard community in order to help bypass barriers between cultures and to facilitate a respectful and inclusive environment. The HACU-AIFS Scholarship is available for outstanding Hispanic students attending a HACU-member institution. Scholarships cover 50% of the AIFS all-inclusive program fee. Students must meet all standard AIFS eligibility requirements. Application, essay and other required documents must be submitted by March 1 for the summer session. April 15 for academic year/fall quarter/fall semester, and Sept. 15 for spring quarter/spring semester. OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Call for Applications: Course Development Stipends for Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia. The Center for Russian and East European Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, the Center for Slavic and East European Studies at the Ohio State University, the Ellison Center for Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies at the University of Washington, the Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center at Indiana University, the Institute for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Russian and East European Institute at Indiana University, are running a national competition to solicit applications from faculty and instructors at community colleges and minority-serving institutions to develop new courses that focus on Eastern Europe and/or Eurasia, or to redesign an existing course. Through funding from the International and Foreign Language Education division of the federal Department of Education, these six Title VI National Resource Centers will give out subawards from $1,000-$3,000. Recipients can use the subaward funds for research related travel, curriculum and research purchases, and salary for research or curriculum design time. The goal of the program is to create more courses with 25% or more content that relates to Eastern Europe/Eurasia, broadening access to area studies coursework at community college and minority-serving institutions. Santander Grant Competition Now Open! The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund is pleased to announce a new grant competition, supported by Founding Circle Partner, Santander Bank, N.A.!  The Santander Competition for Innovations in Study Abroad Partnerships & Collaboration is open to all higher education institutions—in all non-U.S. countries in the Western Hemisphere and in northeastern United States, specifically, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, & Rhode Island—that seek to increase exchange and training opportunities for students in any field of study. The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund is pleased to announce that due to additional funding that has been made available, we are re-opening the SENA Tech Challenge grant competition for the month of October in order to give you another opportunity to apply for an Innovation Fund grant!  Eligibility Requirements: Must be a partnership between at least one community college or land-grant college/university in the United States and at least one SENA Center in Colombia. Proposals must focus on study/training exchanges in one or more of the following areas: Agriculture, Aquaculture, Biotechnology, Environmental Studies, Livestock Production, Engineering, Physics, Geology, Geophysics, Information & Communications Technology (ICT), Tourism, and Gastronomy. Available Awards:  Three (3) Innovation Fund grants of up to $25,000 each will be awarded to selected proposals.  Deadline:   All proposals must be submitted by October 31, 2017. SIELE is the International Spanish Language Evaluation Service which certifies electronically the command of the Spanish language. SIELE is developed by the Instituto Cervantes, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Students and professionals take this examination in order to obtain a certification that will strengthen their academic and professional profile. SIELE is managed by Telefónica Educación Digital.
