Leader-in-Residence Program

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Leader-in-Residence is a competitive program where students from HACU-member institutions across the U.S. and Puerto Rico apply to receive leadership and career development training. This is an 8-month program where 50 students from HACU’s network will have the unique opportunity to serve as ambassadors, promoting HACU programs and advocacy efforts. Selected students will participate in leadership and career development opportunities throughout the duration of the program."

Selected students receive a sponsorship to participate in the ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute, which is the student track of the HACU Annual Conference, taking place November 1-3, 2024, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado. The HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute will offer workshops addressing career, educational and leadership topics. Participants will gain insight on employment opportunities and hiring trends in the federal and corporate sectors, while expanding their network and meeting potential employers.

 

  

Applicants must be committed to:

  • Attend the ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute  (Travel and lodging is included for non-local students only.)
  • Coordinate and execute a minimum of two HACU information sessions. Presentation slides for information sessions will be provided by HACU staff
  • Participate in all career development sessions throughout the program
  • Complete the Leadership and Career Development modules in Talent LMS

Eligibility:

  • Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average 
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Have not received a HACU Conference Sponsorship for the 2023 Annual Conference
  • Must be enrolled at a college or university in the Fall 2024
  • Must be willing to be sponsored by a corporate, federal, or nonprofit sponsor
