The HACU Scholarship Program

2021-2022 is CLOSED.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is pleased to be the administrator of scholarship opportunities provided by our partners to assist in defraying some of your college expenditures. Please review each scholarship’s criteria carefully to see if you qualify, since each partner may have differing requirements. 

Additional scholarship opportunities will be added in the fall 2021 semester as they become available.

In addition, all scholarship applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrate financial need if required by scholarship sponsor (typically determined by FAFSA).

  2. Meet specific criteria for the scholarships to which they are applying.

  3. Students must currently attend a HACU-member college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico at the time applications are completed and scholarship awards are made. Students transferring schools, the school must also be a HACU-member to be eligible to apply.  For the most up-to-date listing of HACU-member institutions, please click here.

  4. Scholarships are ONLY for college students who were enrolled during the 2021 spring semester. All students must have completed their first semester of freshman year at a HACU member institution at the time of applying. High School students are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.

Apple Scholars Program $15,000 - CLOSED 

  • Be a full-time student attending a four-year college or university HACU member institution
  • Sophomore or Junior classification graduating between 2023-2024
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Majoring in computer science, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering or related major
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States 
  • Essay is required

Kia America - HACU STEAM Scholarship (17) $2,000 - CLOSED

  • Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student attending a two-year or four-year HACU member institution
  • Open to the following majors:
    • Sciences - Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Medicine, Physics, Applied Sciences, Material Sciences
    • Technology - Aeronautics, Automotive Sciences, Computer Sciences, Mechanical Sciences, Technical/Vocational Majors (involving machines, computers, technologies)
    • Engineering - All engineering fields (Applied, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical)
    • Arts - Design, Graphics, Architecture, Fashion, Fine Arts, Studio Arts, Motion Pictures/Television, Entertainment Art
    • Math - Math, Applied Math, Statistics
  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Preference shall be given to candidates who are residents of the states of California and Georgia

Sherwin-Williams Scholarship (4) $2,500 - CLOSED

  • Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate students attending a two-year or four-year HACU-member institution
  • Open to all majors
  • 2.5 GPA or above
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Students must submit the following essay questions:
    • In 200 words or less, how has your Hispanic/Latin heritage impacted your motivation to obtain a college degree.
    • In 200 words or less, how will you give back to your community during your time in school or after?
    • In 200 words or less, how can Sherwin Williams bring communities together?

Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship (5) $2,550 - CLOSED

  • Must be first-generation college student (defined as a student of Hispanic descent who 
  • comes from a family where their parents did not attend a four-year college in the United States)
  •  
  • Be enrolled full-time or part-time (minimum 6 semester hours) undergraduate or graduate student attending a two-year or four-year HACU-member institution
  • Open to all majors
  • 2.5 GPA or above
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • 500 word essay: What is your personal motivation for applying to the Coca-Cola scholarship as a first-generation college student.

Denny's Hungry for Education Scholarship (5) $2,000 - CLOSED

  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Applicants must submit a 500 word essay on the following topic:
    • How Denny's can bring communities together.

Deloitte Scholarship (1) $10,000 - CLOSED 

  • Be a full-time or part-time undergraduate student attending a four-year HACU member institution
  • Open to the following majors:
    • Accounting, Business or Technology Majors (Business Administration, Finance, Economics)
    • Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering and Information Science/Management
  • Experience working with JAVA, Salesforce, or Cloud is a plus
  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States 
  • Applicants must submit the following essay questions:
    • In 200 words or less, discuss three significant obstacles you have overcome in pursuit of your education.
    • In 200 words or less, provide examples of your leadership as it pertains to community or school related events.
    • In 200 words or less, describe your potential interest in Deloitte.
