The HACU Scholarship Program 2019-2020 application is OPEN

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is pleased to be the administrator of scholarship opportunities provided by our partners to assist in defraying some of your college expenditures. Please review each scholarship’s criteria carefully to see if you qualify, since each partner may have differing requirements. 

Additional scholarship opportunities will be added in the fall 2019 semester.

In addition, all scholarship applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrate financial need if required by scholarship sponsor (typically determined by FAFSA).

  2. Meet specific criteria for the scholarships to which they are applying.

  3. Students must currently attend a HACU-member college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico at the time applications are completed and scholarship awards are made. Students transferring schools, the school must also be a HACU-member to be eligible to apply.  For the most up-to-date listing of HACU-member institutions, please click here.

  4. Scholarships are ONLY for enrolled college students. All students must have completed their first semester of freshman year at the time of applying. High School students are not eligible to apply.

Denny's Hungry for Education Scholarship - $1,000 - OPEN

  • Full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must be attending a two-year or four-year HACU-Member institution in the United States or Puerto Rico
  • Open to all majors
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Residents of the U.S.
  • Students must provide a 500-word essay on how Denny's can impact childhood hunger in the United States.

Domino's Futuro Brillante Scholarship - $2,500 - OPEN

  • Full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must be attending a two-year or four-year HACU-Member Institution in Houston, Texas or Phoenix, Arizona
  • Open to all majors
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Must be a current Domino's employee or the son/daughter of a current employee at the time of applying
  • U.S. Citizen or Legally Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must answer the following three questions in 500 words or less for each question:
    • 1. What do you intend to accomplish with your degree?
    • 2. How do you/will give back to the community?
    • 3. How has Domino's helped you on your path to success?

Ford College Community Challenge (C3) - OPEN

  • Team of 3-5 students must be from the same Hispanic-Serving Institution and HACU-member school. To be eligible, each team member must be over the age of 18 and enrolled as a full-time student for both Spring 2019 and Fall 2019 (Spring 2019 graduates are not eligible). 
  • Partner with one (1) community-based 501c3 organization (their fiscal contact and a 501(c)3 IRS determination letter is required).
  • Proposal addresses an urgent and unmet community need in a tangible way (need must meet at least one category within the Ford C3 issue criteria). Proposal must include a project budget and budget description. 
  • Include awareness campaigns outline through the use of social media platforms or other approved mediums, to education the community and highlight project progress.
  • 1st Place Team: One (1) $10,000 grant to a community-based organization for project implementation and up to (5) $1,000 academic scholarships for students in the team.
  • 2nd Place Team: One (1) $7,500 grant to community-based organization for project implementation and up to (5) $500 academic scholarships for students in the team.
  • 3rd Place Team: One (1) $4,000 grant to community-based organization for project implementation and up to (5) $200 academic scholarships for students in the team.

 Cafe Bustelo El Cafe Del Futuro Scholarship - $5,000 - CLOSED

  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must be attending a four-year HACU-member institution within the U.S. or Puerto Rico
  • Open to ALL majors
  • Legal Residents of the 50 United States, D.C. and Puerto Rico
  • Must be of Latino descent
  • 800 word essay topic: Describe how your Latino heritage, family and the community in which you grew up have impacted your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree.  Additionally, describe what you intend to accomplish with your degree and how you will give back to your community.

  • Open to the following majors:
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology
    • Engineering (Computer, Software, Hardware, Mechanical)
    • Mathematics
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • U.S. Citizen

  • Full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must be attending a two-year or four-year HACU-Member institution within the following states:
    • California
    • Colorado
    • Florida
    • Illinois

    • Texas
    • Wisconsin
  • Open to all majors
  • Cumulative GPA: 2.5 or higher
  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Authorized to work in the U.S., DACA
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • This scholarship opportunity also includes a sponsorship to participate in the HACU/¡Adelante! Leadership Institute Conference in Chicago, IL on October 5-7, 2019 where recipients will be invited to attend.

  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident 
  • First generation college students strongly encouraged to apply
