HACU president to speak on panel at the World Congress on Access to Postsecondary Education in Canada

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) president and CEO Antonio R. Flores will serve as a panelist at the World Congress on Access to Postsecondary Education in Montreal, Canada on Oct. 10. Flores will participate in a plenary discussion addressing the financial challenges of broadening access to postsecondary education for underrepresented populations. The plenary titled “Is Wider Participation Affordable? What are the Options?" will explore how the high cost of higher education impacts and/or impedes the implementation of access expansion efforts on local, national, and global levels.

The panel, moderated by Gerald Burke, adjunct professor in education, Monash University, Australia, will also include panelists Jandhyala B. G. Tilak, professor at the National University of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi, India; Dieter Dohmen, founder, owner and director of the Institute for Education and Socio-Economic Research (FiBS) in Berlin, Germany; Carol Medel-Anonuevo, deputy director of UNESCO Institute of Learning; and Sophia Zaman, president of the United States Student Association.

The World Congress on Access to Postsecondary Education's mission is to build a strong and energetic global movement to advance wider participation and success in post-secondary education by bringing together education institutions, community organizations, business and industry, NGOs and non-profits, international education networks and governments and government agencies. The inaugural congress takes place Oct. 7 - 10.
