Expectations & FAQ

FELLOWS ARE EXPECTED TO:

  • Attend and participate in the seminars designed to coincide with three key HACU events: the Annual Conference, the Capitol Forum and an International Experience.
  • Participate in the series of webinar events that will be offered during the yearlong experience.
  • Develop a Special Project/Proyecto Transformativo designed to increase the marketability of program participants. 
  • Cover the cost of travel to and from program activities.  That will include airfare, ground transportation, meals not built into the program activities, and lodging.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.Who is eligible to apply to or be nominated for the program?

Any individual who is currently affiliated or previously was affiliated with an institution of higher learning who aspires to a presidential role in a higher education setting, and who believes that he or she would benefit from a program of special experiences that would help to prepare him or her for such a role is encouraged to apply or to be nominated.

2. What will be the program obligations of Fellows selected to participate in the program?

Fellows selected to participate in the program are expected to attend and participate in the seminars designed to coincide with three key HACU events: the Annual Conference, the Capitol Forum and an International Experience. Participate in the series of webinar events during the yearlong experience. Develop a Special Project designed to increase the marketability of program participants.

3. What costs will Fellows incur?

Fellows are required to finance their own travel costs to and from program activities.  Such costs include airfare, ground transportation, meals not built into the program activities, incidentals and lodging.  However, registration costs for the Annual Conference, the Capitol Forum and the International Experience are included in La Academia program fee.

4. During the program, will Fellows be expected to remain in the job that they held at the time of the application/nomination?

During the program, it is not necessary for Fellows to remain in the job that they held at the time of the application/nomination.  Ideally, however, it is helpful for Fellows who change jobs while in the program to remain affiliated with a higher education institution during the course of the program.

5. Will dietary or any other accommodations for health or religious reasons be made?

All reasonable dietary or other accommodations for health or religious reasons will be made during the course of the program.

6.Will a diploma or certificate of completion be conferred at the end of the program?

Yes, a certificate of completion will be conferred at the closing of the International Experience.

7. Will HACU expect to be acknowledged for any special project that results in a publication, presentation or the awarding of a grant?

Yes, HACU will expect to be acknowledged for any special project that results in a publication, presentation or the awarding of a grant.
