Reception honors Tomás D. Morales, Chairman of HACU’s Governing Board

The president and CEO of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), Antonio R. Flores, recently spoke at a reception hosted by the Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership Council, honoring Tomás D. Morales as chair of HACU’s Governing Board.

At the reception held in San Bernardino, Calif, Flores praised Morales for serving as president of California State University, San Bernardino and being actively involved with HACU and other associations focused on advancing higher education priorities.

“We are all very proud of his great achievements as a distinguished academic, a respected university president, and a renowned national leader in higher education,” said Flores. The reception was attended by local community members, education leaders, students, and elected officials.

Morales has served on HACU’s Governing Board since October 2007. He was unanimously elected as chair by the HACU Governing Board on October 4, 2014, during HACU’s national conference in Denver, Colo. In celebration, the San Bernardino business community presented Morales with awards of recognition and a Proclamation.

HACU represents approximately 450 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America and Spain. The associations headquarters are located in San Antonio, Texas, with government relations offices in Washington, D.C., and Sacramento, California. HACU, the only national association representing existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), will celebrate its 30 year anniversary in 2016.
