More than 100 students selected for the Southwest Airlines ¡Lánzate!/Take Off! Travel Program

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Southwest Airlines have announced the names of the college students who will receive Southwest Airlines E-passes through a program designed to help them stay connected with family during the school year.

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores said the program offers vital support for a number of Hispanic families by providing an opportunity to visit their college student on campus, or allowing the student hometown visits while in college.

“The entries received this year demonstrate how important family visits are to a successful higher education experience for Hispanic college students,” stated HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores.

“As an organization whose mission is to champion Hispanic success in higher education, HACU is honored to partner with the Southwest Airlines ¡Lánzate! Travel Program to help college students stay connected with their families as part of their higher education journey. HACU congratulates the student recipients and Southwest Airlines for giving flight to higher education success.”

The awardees were selected from students across the nation who submitted essays under the theme "Dándole Alas a Tu Exito/Giving Flight to Your Success," detailing how the travel award would help them achieve their goal to pursue higher education.

A total of 108 students were selected for "Lánzate/Take Off" Education Travel Program. The program, in its twelfth year, provides awardees with complimentary roundtrip tickets. A total of 200 tickets were awarded among the 2016 recipients. For a complete list of all student recipients and their colleges and universities, click here
