HACU establishes new Trustee Affiliate Membership category

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has established a new Trustee Affiliate membership category for individuals who are directly involved with the upper levels of governance at higher education institution to have representation in national advocacy efforts and issues of interest to Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs).

The new membership category was designed with support by HACU’s governing board, whose members stressed the importance of trustees in advocating for not just their institutions, but for higher education as a whole.

“Having the voices of trustees from our member institutions join us in advocacy would serve to increase the visibility of Hispanic-Serving Institutions among our legislators,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “The role trustees can play in ensuring HSIs receive the support necessary for educating America’s future leaders in the global workforce is immeasurable.”

An inaugural Trustees’ Forum will be held on October 31, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, San Diego, Calif. An event discount rate is available for individuals who join the new membership affiliation for trustees.
